Research Title – Importance of team working
Research Questions: -What is teamwork and how it affects the outcomes in the healthcare sector? What are the significances of teamwork for carers? Does teamwork have any impact on the older population?
Introduction
In a health care setting, both teamwork and collaboration happen. Teamwork is considered as an ongoing interaction, with a common goal, among various professionals who work in health care institutions and serve patients. Though many people use teamwork and collaboration synonymously, the researchers state that they are not same. A comparative study by the researchers indicates that inter-professional group efforts not only affect the patient care outcomes but also affects the team working in the organization, job satisfaction of the caring professional, etc (Wheelan et al, 2003). Collaboration among professionals is possible without belonging to a particular functioning team. For example, a physiotherapist, a family physician and a surgeon can provide service to a patient without mutually affecting each other’s work. They merely play their individual roles depending on the circumstances of the patient and the demands of the situation. The researchers have observed that collaboration can happen among a group of professionals without being a team; but, effective teamwork is impossible without a mutual commitment to the outcome of the care efforts (Wheelan, et al, 2003) i.e. collaboration is required in every team.

Aims
In the light of the approaches of positivism, empirico-analytical paradigm and idealism (which are interpretive paradigms ) the research project has the primary aims to provide a set of beliefs and values about team working, highlight its importance in health and social care setting and provide sufficient information about carers in Amber Home Care, Barns London. The research work is also expected to provide awareness about the methods of formulating research questions, developing research designs and gathering data. The research may use different statistical data collection methodologies such as interviews, questionnaires and observations, and the qualitative approaches of human perspective and interpretation of the events or experiences in the lives of the research participants.
Objectives
This research proposal is intended to provide information with a convincing style about the impacts of teamwork in health and social care at Amber Home, Barns London. Apart from providing awareness about the importance of team working, the goal of this research proposal is to strengthen the belief in team working as a solution to practical issues. This persuasive proposal is built on the logic and reason applied to the analysis of the problem and arriving at a solution.
The Literature review adequately includes the historical information, and factual and empirical studies conducted previously in the chosen research topic. The sources of reviews of the studies related to the research shall be gathered through the internet, books, newspapers, library reference, etc. Google search engine, of course, is one of the tools to collect information about the team, teamwork, significance of teamwork and types of team. Only relevant information related to the research will be chosen to be included in the review of the literature. Various databases such as PubMed, EBSCO, etc. will be used to access the relevant articles from journals in nursing and healthcare.
Research topic:
The primary topic of this research is to explore the perceptions related to the team working among the professionals in Barns London (Van den Bulcke, et al 2016), their knowledge about the ways of working in teams and their current team performance. The sample would also include older people in the age group of 50 – 80 years.
The first step in the process is to identify the key concepts, variables and factors related to the research topic i.e. awareness about team working in health and social care institutions, carers’ current performance and factors related to the teamwork of elderly people i.e. between the age groups of 50 – 80 years.
