Training and Development Assessment

An RFI (Request for Information) is a document created and delivered to one party in the project by another party in the construction field. The form seeks to get clarifications on particular construction parts like the construction plans. It also aims to clarify the construction plans, building standards, specifications, and contract clauses. An example of RFI in construction is such as the one for LaGuardia International Airport Redevelopment Project, New York.

The redevelopment project of the airport is under a lease agreement for 35 years. The LaGuardia Gateway Partners are the contractors for the redevelopment project. They designed, build, operated, financed, and maintain the airport for the lease period. The LaGuardia Partners was in charge of renovating terminal B of the airport, estimated at $4 billion (Torres, 2018).

The project began in 2015 and is expected to be complete by 2021, and it is budgeted for $8 billion. It was to redevelop the airport while it remained fully operational. The project involves demolishing the current Central Terminal Building and all its associated infrastructure and building a new terminal in its place (Devito, Krutovskiy, and Czajkowski, 2020). It also involves constructing a centralized plant for heating and refrigeration (CHRP) and constructing a hydrant fueling system.

It was initiated by the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey following Governor Andrew M. Cuomo’s vision of expanding the airport. The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey is one of the project’s stakeholders. The airport authorities target serving up to 34 million passengers by the year 2030 (Devito et al., 2020). The LaGuardia International Airport Redevelopment Project is one of the newest projects in the USA that significantly impacts the country’s infrastructure.
